Freshman Lauren Ward pitched a three-hitter to lead the Foresters to a 3-1 win over the University of St. Francis in game one of the doubleheader, but HU couldn't complete the sweep falling 8-0 in the nightcap.

In the opener, HU (4-14, 2-4) scored a run in the third, fifth and seventh while Ward held the Cougars scoreless until they scored an unearned run in their final at-bat. Ward also struck out seven and walked two in the win. Ashley McCann went 2-3 and scored a run to lead the Forester offense. Ashley Scally added a hit and two RBI in the victory.

In game two, St. Francis burst out of the gate with five runs in the first and three in the second. Kendra Stahl came on in relief of Scally in the middle of the second to put an end to the Cougar barrage, but HU could not get anything going offensively and fell 8-0 in five innings.
