After dropping four matches in a row, the Foresters got back on track with a 7-2 win over Defiance College. The team match was decided in singles as HU swept the Yellow Jackets. Giving his number one doubles team the day off, Coach Turner moved his other doubles teams up a spot. All doubles matches were close with the number three team of Dawn Lauer and Rachael Boersma taking the only win, 8-4. Kendra Ganz, at number two, had the toughest match of the day, going three sets to pick up the win, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
“This was a good match for us,” said Coach Turner. “They are an improved team from a year ago and they pushed us in several matches. They are scrappy. Coming through the way we did in the later stages of the matches should help our confidence as we near the conference tournament.” The Foresters improve to 3-5 on the season with the win.
