In a Mid-Central Conference matchup, the Foresters (22-14, 8-6) downed Grace College by identical 9-1 scores in the doubleheader.
Two Lancers errors in the first inning allowed HU to score three times to jump in front early. Brita Kuiper doubled in a run and Keri Badenhop blooped a single to shallow center to drive in the other two. The Foresters tacked on two more in the third on a triple by Kuiper to make it 5-0. Grace manufactured a run in the top of the fifth, but HU got a pair in both the fifth and sixth to bring the game to an early conclusion.
Molly Long went the distance to pick up the win. She allowed one run on five hits while striking out five. Brittany Gower and Kuiper both had three hits and three RBI to pace the Foresters at the plate.
In game two, HU finished the job even quicker winning in five innings this time. Brittney Bateman got things started for the Foresters with a solo homerun in the bottom of the first. Molly Long and Jeanine Vaszari also added RBI singles in the inning to give HU a 3-0 lead. The Foresters came back with another three in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth for the 9-1 victory.
Lauren Ward notched another win on the mound for HU. She gave up one run on just three hits and a walk and she struck out five in five innings of work. Ashley McCann and Long both had 3-3 performances at the plate. McCann's included two doubles and two RBI.
