Fred Miller enters his second year as head coach of the Forester men’s and women’s cross country program. Miller brings a variety of experiences to the position as both as a runner and coach.

Miller has several years of coaching under his belt having spent a year as the cross country and track and field coach for Manchester High School before serving as an assistant men’s and women’s coach for both the track and field and cross country programs at NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico University. 

As a 2000 graduate of Huntington, Miller spent four years running cross country for Coach Tom King and a year running track. An All-Conference honoree as a senior, Miller was also a member of the Forester cross country squad that finished sixth at NAIA Nationals in 1999.

Miller remains an avid runner having completed 19 marathons, which includes winning the 2015 Indianapolis Marathon, more than 40 half-marathons and more than a hundred 5Ks.

Additionally, Miller is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a certified exercise physiologist and a certified sport nutrition specialist.

Along with coaching, Miller returned to his alma mater as an Associate Professor of Exercise Science and the Kinesiology Department Chair. The Lagro native graduated with a BS in exercise science and has also earned his MS in physical education from Eastern New Mexico University in 2003 and PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Houston in 2008.

Miller and his wife, Dr. Yenly Londono, reside in Huntington, Ind.
