College Park Church

Huntington University’s Institute for Leadership and Counseling presents seminars on effectively managing grief and stress. Reserve your ticket TODAY!

Grief and stress. The individual who hasn't experienced an abundance of one or both of these feelings is rare indeed. To shed some much needed light on these two extremely prevalent issues, Huntington University has invited Dr. H. Norman Wright and Dr. Larry Mercer to present seminars as a part of HU's Institute for Counseling and Leadership intensive on Thursday, August 25.

Dr. H. Norman Wright is a licensed marriage, family and child therapist with 30 years of private practice experience under his belt. His lecture titled "Tremors of Life: Ministering at a Time of Loss, Crisis, and Trauma" will ask and begin to answer the question, "what is a loss in your life that you have never fully grieved over?" He will address the categories of loss, the definition of grief, and the steps involved in moving forward. This presentation will take place in the sanctuary of College Park Church (1945 College Avenue) from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday, August 25.

Dr. Larry Mercer holds degrees in theology and ministry and serves as an executive coach and works with leaders of churches, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. His lecture titled "Brain-Based Leadership & Coaching: Integrating Findings from Neuroscience with Scripture to Enhance Your Personal and Professional Effectiveness" will begin to unpack the question of how you can minimize the negative impact of stress in your life. Using the findings of neuroscience research and Scripture, Dr. Mercer will provide practical strategies to empower you to deal with stress. This presentation will take place in the sanctuary of College Park Church (1945 College Avenue) from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25.

This conference is free, and open to the public but an RSVP is required. In addition we are providing free continuing education credit (2 CEU’s for Dr. Wright’s seminar and 1 CEU for Dr. Mercer’s seminar) through Nation Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), provider number 4561. This awards Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors Category I Continuing Education Units (CEU’s).
