WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Lancers of Grace College lived up to their No. 8 national ranking Saturday night at Miller Field by logging their seventh shutout of the season, a 2-0 decision, over the HU women’s soccer team.

Defense has been Grace’s bread and butter all year behind their keeper Abby Schue who has only given up five goals this season and is currently ranked 5th in the NAIA in goals against per game (0.490). The Lancers have also proven they can put the ball in the back of the net, logging an average of 2.27 goals per night, which explains their 10-0-1 overall record, 2-0-1 record in league play.

The Foresters (6-6, 0-3) didn’t back down from their conference powerhouse. HU tallied 12 shots - nine on frame - forcing Schue to make some impressive saves to keep Coach Tillett’s crew off the scoreboard. Matéa Knispel led HU’s attack with four shots, three of which were on target.

“The girls played very well,” said Coach Tillett. “I was pleased with our patience on offense. We rose to the challenge of the game against a top-ranked opponent.”

Grace scored both goals within the first 30 minutes for the early 2-0 lead that they were able to preserve until the final horn.

Huntington returns to the friendly confines of King Stadium on Wednesday to host Bethel College at 4:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 234 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
