Alumni Choir Presents Free Concert

HUNTINGTON, IN -- As Huntington College celebrates Homecoming 1995 this weekend, alumni and current students of music will present a reunion concert at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.

Alumni spanning more than 40 graduating classes will be conducted by Dr. Jerry Blackstone, co-director of choirs and coordinator of the Conducting Department at the University of Michigan. Blackstone served as Huntington College's music director from 1975 to 1979. The alumni choir will perform such works as "Give Me Jesus" by Fleming and "O Magnum Mysterium" by Victoria.

Huntington's present Concert Choir will perform under the direction of Dr. David Wallis, chair of HC's Music Department. Their program will include "At the Round Earth's Imagined Corners" by T. Spencer, "Come Though Fount of Every Blessing" arranged by C. Courtney, "As the Heart Longs" by F. Mendelssohn and "I'm Gonna Rise" by P. Marsena.

The two choirs will join for "How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place" by Brahams and "Ezekiel Saw de Wheel" by Dawson.
