Huntington, Ind. ” The Huntington College Athletics Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of September 6-12, 2004. Volleyball senior Jessica Kendall and men’s golf junior Andrew Porterfield earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.

Jessica Kendall, an environmental science major from Greensburg, Ind. (South Decatur High School), helped lead the Forester volleyball team to a 3-2 record last week with 51 kills and 16 blocks. In her best match of the week, a 3-1 win over Spring Arbor University, Kendall led the team with 19 kills and five blocks. In the team’s weekend tournament at Defiance College, she put down 32 kills and added 11 blocks to help lead the team to a 2-2 record and a fourth place finish. For her efforts, Kendall was selected to the All-Tournament Team. The Foresters are next in action on Tuesday, September 14, at Grace College at 7:30 p.m.

Andrew Porterfield, a computer science major from Marion, Ind. (Eastbrook High School), was the runner-up at the 16-team University of Indianapolis Invitational with a one-under par 71. Porterfield got off to a slow start with double bogeys on his first two holes, but then went five-under par on his final 16. In the two-day Indiana Wesleyan Invitational on the weekend, Porterfield posted the Foresters’ two best scores with a 76 on Friday and a 78 on Saturday. He currently leads the team with a 75 average. The golf team is in action today at the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament in Wauseon, Ohio.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 49 NAIA All-American honors and 91 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
