BATH, Mich. – Sophomore Cale Carr carded a three-under-par 141 (68, 73) to post a runner-up finish and lead the Forester men’s golf team to a fourth place finish at the Spring Arbor University Fall Classic at Eagle Eye Golf Club.

As a team, HU fired a 304 on the first 18 and followed up with a 309 in round two to finish a 37-over-par 613 ahead of conference foes Indiana Wesleyan, Spring Arbor and Mount Vernon.

A pair of rookies finished second and third for Coach Sholund’s crew. Luis Esteban tied for 14th in the field of 55 golfers by shooting a 153 (79, 74) while Nate Mynatt posted a 159 (79, 80). Logan DeMaa turned in a 161 (79, 82) and Zarky Cummings rounded out the scoring with a 163 (78, 85).

“The team responded to adversity today and it showed in the results,” said Sholund. “Each player had moments in both rounds when the round could have gone in the wrong direction, but they competed for every stroke as well as each other.

“They have been putting in a lot of effort and they will gain confidence from a positive result like this. Myself and the coaching staff are very proud of their efforts today.”

Madonna and Marian tied for team honors with a 583 followed by Taylor (607), HU (613), Indiana Wesleyan (618), Spring Arbor (622), Mount Vernon (624), Cleary (638), IU Kokomo (659), Spring Arbor B (680) and Rochester (699).
