HUNTINGTON, IN: April 19, 1996 - Fairfield High School standout Amy Bechtel has signed a letter of intent to play basketball and volleyball at Huntington College this fall. Bechtel has excelled as a three sport student-athlete earning four varsity letters in basketball, tennis and volleyball while carrying a high grade point average.

During her basketball career, Bechtel led her team in scoring and rebounding three years, was the team's MVP three years, and was an All-Northeast Corner Conference (NECC) selection as a sophomore, junior, and senior. As a senior, she led her team to a 17-5 record by averaging 22.8 ppg, 15.5 rpg, and 4.6 spg. She also participated in the state's Top 40 tryout and the Sunburst All-Star game. She finished her career as Fairfield's all-time leading scorer with 1,534 points and as the second leading scorer in Elkhart County girl's basketball history.

As a volleyball player, Bechtel was the team's MVP three years and an All-NECC selection in 1995. She also set school records for spikes and digs. "

We are very pleased that Amy has chosen Huntington College to further her academic and athletic careers. She is a tremendously gifted individual who will be an asset to our campus in a number of ways," said Lori Culler, women's basketball coach and athletic director at Huntington College. "Specifically as a basketball player, her height will give us depth in the post and her shooting range will provide the team with some needed scoring punch. We are excited about the potential Amy brings to our program and look forward to sharing in her many successes during the next four years."
