Felker Jones releases ‘Marks of His Wounds’

Huntington, Ind.-Dr. Beth Felker Jones, assistant professor of Bible and religion at Huntington University, has released a new book titled "Marks of His Wounds: Gender Politics and Bodily Resurrection."

The book is a theology of the human body approached through the doctrine of the resurrection. In a retrieval of St. Augustine and theologian John Calvin, Felker Jones tells a Wesleyan story about God's intentions for people as holy human beings, created as body and soul.

"I argue that the concrete body of Christ will have to be the first and final reference point for conceptualizing the redemption of our own bodies and the possibility that we may be ordered toward God," Felker Jones said.

Oxford University Press published the 192-page hardcover book, which is available at booksellers nationwide.

Felker Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from DePauw University and her Master of Theological Studies degree from Duke University Divinity School. In 2004, she earned her Ph.D. from Duke University. She has taught at Duke University Course of Study School, Duke Divinity School and Duke Youth Academy for Christian Formation. Since 2004, she has taught at Huntington University.
