Kohler, Wis. - The Forester women’s golf team brought home an eighth place finish from the Whistling Straights Intercollegiate to conclude the fall portion of their schedule. After posting a 357 on Monday, HU turned in a 401 on Tuesday to finish with a 758.

Playing in a field of 49 golfers, Betsy Schroeder claimed tenth by firing a 168 (83, 85) to pace her team. Alexandria Maris finished second for HU, 29th overall, with a 192 (89, 103). Leah Thompson posted a 196 (92, 104) for 35th. Megan Higgins placed 39th with a 202 (93, 109) while Sophie Frazier turned in a 225 (108, 117).

“The ladies did very well this week,” said Coach Sholund. “This was a strong field that provided us an opportunity to see where we are in our third year as a program. 

“The Irish Course at Whistling Straits is a world class challenge and was a great opportunity for the players to learn what areas of their game need improvement under competition against top teams. We are certainly gaining confidence in our ability to compete and a strong offseason focusing on the right things will help us be even more competitive in the spring.”

Northern Michigan topped the leader board with a 667 followed by Taylor (675), Embry Riddle (677), Saint Francis (699), Cardinal Stritch (703), Viterbo (719), Holy Cross (751), HU (758), St. Xavier (797) and Sterling (842).

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
