The Forester women placed 14th out of out 23 varsity teams with a total pin fall of 9,153 for the weekend. On Saturday, HU knocked down 5,150 pins for an 858 average per game over the six regular team games. They followed up with a score of 4,003 pins on Sunday in baker action for a 166 average.

Brianna Cearbaugh finished Saturday with a six-game average of 195 to claim 9th as an individual. Brooke Ewing finished in the top 25 with an average of 182.

“It’s still early in the season and if the ladies keep working hard we’re going to see huge improvements by the end of the season,” said Coach Mike Shockey.

The Huntington men’s team finished 16th out of 31 teams. Things started out well for the Foresters as they were in 11th place after the team games on Saturday with a total of 5,745 pins and 957 average. Unfortunately Sunday was a struggle as they registered a total pin fall of 4,249 (177 average) to drop five spots by the day’s end.

Joe Miller led the Foresters with an individual average of 199 for six games and a 31st place finish. Thomas Gunter also had a solid outing by averaging 195 and finishing 41st in singles.

“After bowling pretty well on Saturday, it was a real struggle Sunday to get the guys to loosen up and make good shots and pick-up spares,” said Shockey. “We’ll keep working on our games and will be more prepared for the next tournament.”
