SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The Huntington volleyball team completed the regular season sweep over Spring Arbor University Wednesday night at SAU Fieldhouse. It was a convincing win as the Foresters won in three (-20, -21, -22), their second shutout over SAU and seventh of the season.

Ten points into sets one and three, the Foresters established a lead that proved permanent. It took a little longer in the middle set, as it wasn’t until HU held a 17-16 advantage that they never trailed again.

“We had fun tonight,” said Coach Shondell. “Nothing slowed us from finishing the match the way we wanted to.”

It was a much-needed quality win for Shondell’s crew as it snapped a four-game losing skid. Huntington improves to 10-12 overall, 5-6 in Crossroads League action.

For the sixth time this season, HU logged over a .200 hitting percentage as a team. They finished with 43 kills at a clip of .218 with a mix of Foresters getting in on the action. Jenna Tacosik directed the offense with 32 assists and made sure she didn’t play favorites as four of her teammates finished with at least seven kills.

Tailor Schultheis, Josie Beaver and Danielle Gurwell each logged eight kills while Haley Longley added seven as did Tacosik.

“I loved how balanced our offense was tonight,” said Shondell. “When you have as many quality pieces as we do, you don't want to overload anybody. Jenna did a nice job tonight of distributing the ball.”

Mikayla Carpenter anchored the backcourt with a game-best 17 digs.

“It was a good step forward, but we need to maintain this level of play on Friday night,” said Shondell.

The Foresters host Grace College Friday night at 7:00 p.m. HU will look to avenge a 3-0 loss to the Lancers earlier this season.
