The Foresters overcame a sluggish start to pick up their first win of the season, knocking off MCC newcomer, Spring Arbor University, 28-30, 30-28, 30-15, 30-26. In game one, HC was down 20-10 before storming back to tie it at 27-27, but couldn’t finish it off. In game two, the Foresters jumped out to an early lead, but had to hold on to tie the match at a game apiece. HC made quick work of the Cougars in game three and held off a late Cougar charge to win the match in four. Jessica Kendall dominated at the net with a team-leading 19 kills and five blocks. Freshman Marissa Scheiber had a breakout match with her 10 kills and three aces on her serve. Setter Jami Fusselman dished out 35 assists and added five blocks and six digs. The win moves the Foresters to 1-2 on the season and 1-0 in the MCC.
