SOUTH BEND, Ind.  It wasn’t exactly how Coach Mark Green and his crew wanted to follow-up an impressive win earlier in the week as the HU men’s golf team struggled over the weekend to finish in a tie for 12th at Bethel College’s Battle at Blackthorn.

After shooting a 327 on Friday to find themselves in 13th, HU shot a 326 to move up a spot by day’s end on Saturday. Ryan Boester paced Huntington by shooting a 14-over-par 158 (73, 83) to finish tied for 32nd out of 80 golfers.

Devin Dale carded a 160 (83, 77). Lance Hoch turned in a 163 (83, 80) while Zach Borntreger (86, 86) and Derek Zurcher (88, 87) rounded out Huntington’s scoring by posting a 172 and 175 respectively.

Bethel shot a 20-over-par 596 as a team to claim their own tourney title followed by Holy Cross (607), St. Francis (IL) (607), Marian (609), Taylor (610), Grace (616), St. Xavier (618), Saint Francis (629), Madonna (631), Trinity Christian (642), Concordia (WI) (651), HU (653), Roosevelt (653), Calumet (675) and North Central (686).

The Foresters have a few weeks off before competing in the Saint Francis Invitational on October 3-4.
