WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace College handed the HU men’s tennis team its first conference loss of the year Thursday afternoon. The Lancers posted eight wins against one loss on the day to improve to 3-0 overall, 3-0 in league play while the Foresters drop to 1-4 overall, 1-1 in conference action.

Huntington’s only win came at No. 2 singles where Ignacio Poncio defeated Uros Pajicin a three-set thriller, 6-4, 1-6, 10-6. Poncio is currently 4-1 at the #2 spot.

Despite the final score, Coach Eckert remains positive about his team’s progress. “The doubles team at #2 and #3 had their best matches of the year, keeping pace with Grace in both matches until the very end.

“The team had many bright spots and more opportunities than the score shows, which is very promising with a conference match against Taylor on Saturday and another against undefeated Goshen College next Tuesday.”
