WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Huntington women’s soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Grace College Wednesday night at 1st Source Bank Field. The loss drops HU to 7-7-1 overall, 3-3 in league play. The win is Grace’s third in its last four outings as they improve to 6-6-3 overall, 3-3 in CL action.

With three regular-season games remaining, these two teams along with Taylor are tied for third in the league standings.

HU’s lone goal came at the foot of Brandi Spear in the 63rd minute with Lancer goals sandwiching either side of it. The goal was Spear’s 10th goal of the season, the 14th of her career. For Grace, they struck within the first nine minutes of play and then again with 11 minutes remaining.

Huntington managed five shots in the first half to Grace’s nine before storming back to more than double up their hosts in attempts, 9-4, in the final 45 minutes. However, the Lancers enjoyed seven shots on frame to HU’s five.

Paige Coolman registered five saves and took the loss in net.

“Tonight we faced a very strong side in Grace,” said Coach Burge. “Although we stepped back on the field at the start of the second half ready to battle, we just weren’t able to capitalize on enough opportunities to finish with a win.”

HU returns to the friendly confines of King Stadium on Saturday to host Bethel at 3:00 p.m.
