Graduate School announces fall class schedule

Huntington, Ind. " The Huntington College Graduate School of Christian Ministries will offer classes toward the completion of the Master of Arts degrees in Pastoral Ministry, Educational Ministry, Youth Ministry and a Diploma in Pastoral Leadership. Students may also enroll in elective classes offered in leadership, family ministry, and educational ministry.

The graduate school program is designed for the pastor, Christian education director, youth minister, or other ministry staff who would like to earn the Master's degree or take specific classes of interest. The classes also provide an opportunity for laypersons, or those who are transitioning into ministry from a secular career, to develop their ministry skills.

The opportunity for graduate school often requires a person to relocate or enroll in a distance-learning program, said Dr. Gary House, assistant professor of educational ministries and director of mentoring at the Graduate School. Classes at the Graduate School of Christian Ministries are designed for those who want to further their education and ministry training without leaving their present ministry or work positions.

Each course is offered in a non-traditional format, typically meeting one Thursday and Friday each month for three months. The block format is designed to be worker-friendly and to allow for an intensive time of interaction as students and professors discuss ministry ideas and issues.

Classes offered for the fall semester, starting in September, include, Motivation, Learning, and Teaching; Pastoral Counseling; Hermeneutics; Communicating the Word; Philosophical Foundations; Conflict Management; Ministry Mentor; and Clinical Pastoral Education. The cost for senior adults, 55 years and older, is only $100 per class.
