HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Junior Christiana Hicks and senior Jake Nash were selected as this week’s Crossroads League Female and Male Field Athlete of the Week respectively as announced earlier this afternoon.

For Hicks, it marks the second time this season she’s earned the award. On Saturday the Fort Wayne native shattered her PR in triple jump by more than a foot to take first at the Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational hosted by Anderson University with a mark of 11.74 meters (38’6.25).

Hicks will compete in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships for the second straight year in this event on Saturday morning. Her record-breaking mark of 11.74 meters is the fifth farthest distance represented among the field of 22 qualifiers.

Nash earned this week’s league honor with his first place finish in high jump. The Lebanon (Ohio) native posted a season-high leap of 2.03 meters (6’8) at Saturday’s Fred Wilt Invitational. He will also represent HU this weekend at nationals.

This will be Nash’s third trip to the big stage and potentially his third NAIA All-America honor as he took fifth as a sophomore and sixth as a junior to earn back-to-back All-America accolades.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 234 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
