HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University junior Christiana Hicks was named this week’s Crossroads League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week as announced earlier today by the conference office.

Hicks broke the school record in the 200 meters in the Foresters’ season opener at the Robert H. Johnson Little Giant Invitational hosted by Wabash College on Saturday. The Fort Wayne native (Snider HS) clocked in at 26.37 to not only win the race but also earn the top spot in the HU record books. The previous record-holder was Bethany McGraw who ran a 26.51 back in 2009.

Hicks also took top honors in triple jump with a leap of 10.78 meters. Today’s honor marks the second time Hicks has been recognized by the league. She was named the CL Women’s Field Athlete of the Week last February when she broke HU’s triple jump indoor record.

In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 234 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
