PERU, Ind. – The HU women’s golf team continues to show just how gritty and determined they are. After posting a 380 on day one of The Rumble at the Rock hosted by Indiana Wesleyan, the Foresters shot 17 strokes better on Saturday to finish with a 743 for the ninth spot in the final standings.

Betsy Schroeder topped Huntington with a 172 (90, 82) for 12th overall. Leah Thompson came in 24th with a 177 (87, 90). Rachel Blauert fired a 189 (98, 91) good for 39th and rounding out HU’s scores included Sarah Scott (105-100—205) and Sophie Frazier (113-107—220).

“We have had the great opportunity to play some of Indiana’s top courses this spring – Purgatory, Broadmoor and Rock Hollow this weekend,” said Coach Schownir. “The fact that our young team improved again 17 shots from the first day speaks a lot for them and I truly believe will make them better in the next two to three years.

“Betsy Schroeder tied the third best score of the day today. It was good to see her play a solid round.”

Taylor took home the title with a 672 followed by Bethel (673), Indiana Wesleyan (682), Olivet Nazarene (682), Grace (695), Bethel B (703), Holy Cross (714), Mount Vernon (727) and HU (743).

HU’s last event of the year is the Crossroads League Tournament slated for May 1-2.
