GRAND BLANC, Mich.  - Playing in their final invitational of the fall, the HU men’s golf team finished third out of five teams at the Spring Arbor University Fall Classic at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club.

Shortened from 36 to 27 holes due to inclement weather, the Foresters got off to a great start to find themselves just three strokes out of first after the first 18 but struggled through the final nine holes to finish with a 490.

Cale Carr posted a 119 (79, 40) to finish tied for 5th out of 32 golfers. Lance Hoch finished one stroke back at 120 (77, 43) for a share of 7th place. Logan DeMaa tied for 12th with a 124 (81, 43). Zach Borntreger carded a 127 (87, 40) to finish tied for 16th and Kaleb Harness shot a 136 (93, 43) for 25th place.

“In very cold and windy conditions, the men again proved they are competitive,” said Coach Sholund. “We were in a position to win and some missed opportunities proved costly. They did a good job managing the weather out there today.

“Coach Herrell and I continue to see growth, maturity and discipline take root. We are excited about working hard this winter and starting strong in the spring.”

Spring Arbor claimed the title with a 477 followed by Cleary (486), HU (490), Grace (499) and Siena Heights (505).
