HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University softball team (36-17) learned Tuesday night that they will be packing their bags for Waleska, Georgia at Reinhardt University’s Ken White Softball Field to compete in the 2016 NAIA National Championship Opening Round slated for May 16-18.

As the Crossroads League tournament runner-up, HU received the conference’s second automatic bid to compete in the tournament and earned the program’s second-ever berth to the big dance.

The format for the opening round is a double-elimination, four-team tournament at each of the ten host sites. The ten winners from each site will punch their ticket to the 36th annual NAIA Softball World Series in Sioux City, Iowa from May 27 to June 2.

Huntington received the No. 3 seed and will face 2nd-seeded Reinhardt University (41-10) in game one on opening day.
