HUNTINGTON, Ind. – In collaboration with the other Crossroads League women’s basketball teams, the Huntington University women’s basketball team will host its first ever Destiny Rescue Night on Wednesday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. in their game against Bethel College.

Destiny Rescue is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children trapped in the sex trade all across the world. Every 26 seconds, another child is sold or forced into sex trafficking. Destiny Rescue seeks to rescue the sexually exploited and enslaved, restore the abused, protect the vulnerable, empower the poor and be a voice for those who can’t speak up for themselves.

HU and the Lady Pilots have set a goal of raising $1,500 Wednesday night which will allow Destiny Rescue to rescue one child from sex trafficking.

All gate proceeds will be donated to Destiny Rescue. Members of the Huntington North High School girls’ basketball team will also be joining the Foresters’ efforts by helping collect donations every time free throws are shot, selling t-shirts and jewelry and running a halftime free throw fundraiser.

The community is invited to attend Wednesday’s game to help the Foresters raise awareness and funds to rescue at least one child from sex trafficking.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 38 NAIA All-America honors and 254 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
