MISHAWAKA, Ind. - It wasn’t how the Forester volleyball team wanted to wrap up their regular season as they dropped a 3-0 decision (-19, -24, -22) to Bethel College Wednesday night at Goodman Gymnasium. The loss is HU’s first to the Pilots as the league foes split the season series with Huntington beating BC in three the first time around back on September 20.

Both teams finished with a 7-11 conference record to tie for 6th in the final league standings with Shondell’s crew winning the tiebreaker to earn the 6th-seed headed into postseason. The #6 Foresters will travel to #3 Grace on Saturday for the quarterfinals of the CL tourney.

Huntington struggled offensively as they managed just 28 kills and a .061 hitting percentage. Danielle Gurwell led the way with eight kills. Breanna Metz added seven while Josie Beaver tallied five.

The Pilots, on the other hand, logged 40 kills and a .173 hitting percentage to win the battle at the net offensively. They also won the battle at the net defensively by out-blocking their visitors 8-6.

Jenna Tacosik topped Huntington in assists with 22. Ariene Butler bolstered the backline with 15 digs while Kate Cobb and Mikayla Carpenter chipped in 12 and ten respectively.

HU is now 13-20 on the year.
