Huntington College announces fall enrollment numbers

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College announces a total fall enrollment of 975 students, including 819 undergraduates, 96 students enrolled in the EXCEL Program and 60 students enrolled in the Graduate School of Christian Ministries.

The announcement marks the fourth consecutive year that enrollment at the Christian, liberal arts college has hovered around the 1000-student mark. The College enrolled 235 new students, including 204 freshmen and 31 transfer students. Included in the freshmen class are 46 Presidential Scholars (3.6 GPA and 1250 SAT/28 ACT) of which 19 are also Colloquium Scholars (3.6 GPA and 1320 SAT/31 ACT).

These are by far the largest numbers we have had in each category, and as a result, almost ten percent of the freshmen are Colloquium level and almost 25 percent are Presidential level, said Jeff Berggren, vice president of enrollment management and marketing at Huntington College.

Twenty-six students from Huntington County enrolled as freshmen, an increase from last year's 24. Of those 26 county students, two are Presidential Scholars and six students were ranked in the top 50 students of the Huntington North High School class of 2004.

Last spring, Huntington announced the implementation of seven new degree programs to be started within two years. Included among these programs are the Master of Education, Social Work, Digital Media Arts, Economics and Finance, Political Studies, Sports Ministry, and Worship Leadership. In addition to the seven new academic programs to be launched in 2004 and 2005, Huntington College is currently studying the feasibility of developing a new undergraduate degree in nursing.
