Huntington University announces 2014-15 theater season

HUNTINGTON, Ind. The Huntington University Theatre Company has announced its crowd-pleasing season for 2014-15. Three major productions and the Troupe's revue of "Disney on Broadway" are scheduled for the upcoming academic year in the Zurcher Auditorium and the Studio Theater in the Merillat Centre for the Arts on campus. The main season will open with the classical favorite "Singin' in the Rain" and conclude with Shakespeare's famous "Romeo & Juliet."
Tickets, unless otherwise noted, are $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors, $6 for children 13 and younger, $5 for HU students and $9 for HU faculty/staff.
For reservations, call the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at 260-359-4261 from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Tickets also will be sold at the door before every performance.

"Singin' in the Rain"
Nov. 13-15 and 20-22

Filled with memorable songs and impressive choreography, "Singin' in the Rain" is based off the popular 1952 film. According to IMDb.com, set during the beginning of "talkies" in the late 1920s, Don Lockwood has risen to stardom during Hollywood's silent-movie era paired with the beautiful and jealous Lina Lamont. When Lockwood becomes attracted to a young studio singer, Kathy Selden, Lamont has her fired. Drama, laughter and memorable musical numbers fill this fun-loving production made famous by Gene Kelly and his gang.
"The Ruby Sunrise"

Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet"

This classic tragedy is one of Shakespeare's most popular plays. Travel back in time to Verona and watch as the Capulet and Montague families struggle to end their feud until the deaths of two star-crossed lovers bring reconciliation. Come see this timeless play brought to life on HU's stage.
