The NAIA national office announced last week the team and individual qualifiers for the 2014 NAIA Cross Country National Championships and among the list of individual qualifiers are Huntington University juniors Hannah Moore and Krista Wood.

The HU pair is two of 84 individuals who will compete at the NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championship on Saturday, November 22, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas. Their invitation to compete at nationals is based on their finish at the Crossroads League Championships on Saturday where Moore claimed 6th and Wood finished 13th.

This will be both runners’ second trip to the NAIA Championships. As freshmen, they were part of the 2012 Crossroads League Championship Forester squad that earned an automatic bid to the tourney where the team finished 20th overall out of 32 teams. In that race, Wood ran a 20:08 to finish 122nd while Moore posted a time of 20:18 for 132nd.

Headlining the competition is two-time defending national champion No. 1-ranked British Columbia. The Thunderbirds – who are the top-ranked school for the last seven editions of the 2014 NAIA Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 Poll – will look to grab its third-straight national crown.

The women’s 5K race will begin at 10:30 a.m. CST, followed by the men’s 8K race at 11:45 a.m. CST.
