INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Crossroads League announced its 2016-2017 Preseason All-Conference Teams and Coaches Poll on Monday with Huntington University seniors Miranda Palmer and Dan Woll among the list of honorees.

Palmer, HU’s leading scorer a year ago at 18.6 ppg, was named a preseason First Team pick. The 5-6 guard finished second among her league peers in scoring in addition to finishing 2nd in 3-point field goal percentage (.380), 3rd in three-point field goals made per game (2.19), 3rd in assists per game (3.81), 4th in steals per game (1.87), 6th in field goal percentage (.468) and 6th in free throw percentage (.766).

As a team, the HU women were selected sixth in the conference preseason poll after finishing 7th last year in the regular season standings with a conference record of 7-11. The Foresters open up 2016-2017 by hosting Holy Cross College on November 1 at 7:00 p.m.

Woll was voted a preseason Second Team selection after leading his team in rebounding (7.10) and ranking second in scoring (16.90) last season. The Columbia City native ranked among the league’s top-10 players by finishing 6th in scoring (16.90), 8th in field goal percentage (.505), 6th in steals per game (1.52), 7th in rebounding (7.10), 5th in defensive rebounds per game (5.97), 8th in blocks per game (1.03) and 6th in double doubles (6).

Coach Platt’s crew was picked to finish 8th in the league’s preseason poll. The Foresters posted a 7-11 Crossroads League record last year for a 7th place finish in the regular season standings. HU’s season kicks off on November 4-5 when they host their own Classic where they will face Marygrove College on Friday at 8:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
