FORT WAYNE, Mich. - Playing in the University of Saint Francis Fall Invitational over the weekend, the Forester women’s golf team spent two days at two different courses. After turning in a 343 at Cherry Hill on Friday, HU fired a 332 at Cobblestone to finish with an 675 for 11th place.

Abby Poole carded a 16-over-par 160 (82, 78) to pace Huntington and finish 13th out of 80 golfers. Three Foresters shot within a stroke of each other with Megan Higgins posting a 172 (90, 82) for 42nd place and Alexandria Maris (85, 88) and Betsy Schroeder (89, 84) each shooting a 173 to tie for 45th.

Other scores for HU included Leah Thompson (87-89--176), Sophie Frazier (91-92--183) and Sara Scott (111-100--211).

‘This was a very solid tournament for us and a good rebound from our last event,” said Coach Sholund. “We are a very young team overall and it shows at times with some erratic scoring. They know this and are working and communicating with each other on how to improve in this area.  They did a great job in stopping negative momentum and turning scores back in the right direction.

“We have had a good focus in practice the past couple of weeks and it is starting to show on the course. We are now challenged with maintaining this focus through the fall and I know they will.”

UNOH ran away with the title by firing a 603 followed by Saint Francis (636), Taylor (636), Bethel (647), IWU (648), Grace (654), Siena Heights (655), St. Francis (IL) (659), Madonna (673), Olivet Nazarene (673) and HU (675).
