Huntington, Ind.- Huntington College head baseball coach Mike Frame has announced that Northrop High School senior Russ Degitz has signed a letter of intent to attend Huntington College this fall. The senior third baseman was named to the Summit Athletic Conference's All-Conference Team in 1998. Degitz is currently hitting .348 with 4 home runs and 15 RBI. Russ is the son of Judy and Jim Degitz of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

"We are very pleased that Russ has decided to continue his education and play baseball at HC," says Frame. "He comes from one of the truly quality high school programs in the state. He is an outstanding athlete and has developed into one of the top infielders in the area. We feel like his best baseball is ahead of him. He is an outstanding leader both on and off the field. We will look at him at both third base and second base, and we expect him to make an immediate impact as a part of Forester Baseball. "

Huntington College is a Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, Indiana. The Huntington College Foresters compete in fourteen intercollegiate sports for both men and women. Huntington College is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Foresters finished the 1998 season at 21-20 and second in the MCC. Huntington has captured the MCC season regular season championship or conference tournament championship 8 out of the last 12 years. The Foresters have had eight former players go on to careers in professional baseball, including three in 1988.
