HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University golf coach Pete Schownir has inked his second recruit for 2015-16 with the signing of Western High School standout Sophie Frazier.

A three-year varsity letter winner, Frazier helped guide the Panthers to a sectional title in 2014. She wrapped up her final campaign by shooting a career low 93 at the regional tourney at Battleground Golf Course in Lafayette, Ind.

In addition to her accomplishments on the links, Frazier has also enjoyed success in the classroom as evidenced by being named to the All Mid-Indiana Conference Academic Team. The Kokomo native plans to major in psychology this fall.

“I am very happy that Sophie will be attending Huntington University and continuing her golf career,” said Schownir. “She is an excellent student and will be a good college golfer. She will be a great teammate.”

Sophie is the daughter of Chris and Nikki Frazier of Kokomo, Ind.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 38 NAIA All-America honors and 222 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
