Students awarded top honors by the iNRB
The Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters organization (iNRB) has recognized six Huntington University students with awards for outstanding examples of radio, TV and film production. The students will receive their awards at the iNRB Student Production Awards Ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, on Feb. 25.
“We are so proud of our film and broadcasting students who are competing so well on a national scale with their productions,” said Dr. Lance Clark, professor of digital media arts film & communications. “This is the first year we have taken first place in the sports broadcasting category and it shows how strong our program is in that area.”
Honorees include:
- Senior Derek Zurcher, a broadcast-fusion media major from Leesburg, Indiana, who received the first place award in the TV/Video Web Production category for his entry titled, “FDN Sports.”
- Mathis Glover, a 2015 film production graduate from Glendale, California, who received the first place award in the Short Film category for his entry titled, “Brother.”
- Ethan Burch, a 2015 film production graduate from Bloomington, Indiana, who received the second place award in the Short film category for his entry titled, “Flowers of the Fall.”
- Senior Kelsey Kruse, a broadcast-fusion media major from Auburn, Indiana, who received the third place award in the TV/Video Field Production category for her entry titled, “Campus Shooting Safety.”
- Nathan Corder, a 2015 film production graduate from Glasford, Illinois, who received the third place award in the TV/Video Web Production category for his entry titled, “Testimony.”
- Matt Shouse, a 2015 film production graduate from Fairmount, Indiana, who received the third place award in the Film Documentary category for his entry titled, “James Dean – From Jimmy to James.”
“These honors are well deserved by our students,” said Adam Widener, visiting instructor of broadcast-fusion media/digital media arts. “Their professionalism reflects the excellence we aim for in our Broadcast-Fusion Media department. We, as an entire university, are fortunate to have this team as online ambassadors.”
First-place winners in each category are awarded $150 in prize money to be divided among team members, plus the opportunity to attend the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to prize money, all first-place winners receive a trophy and a certificate along with $300, divided among team members, to cover transportation costs to the convention. Second and third-place winners and their schools receive a certificate.
The Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters organization is committed to promoting excellence, integrity and networking opportunities in media. The organization seeks to provide a forum where members can network together to share ideas and goals.
