Successful Front Line Foresters program begins third year

HUNTINGTON, Ind. The Front Line Foresters at Huntington University represent the student body to alumni, family and friends of the institution. With the success of the program in the past two years, the university has hired 10 student ambassadors to continue the mission into the 2014-2015 school year. Those students are senior Breanna Amico, a public relations and communication studies major from Indianapolis, Ind.; senior Antonio Castillo, a biology pre-med major from Shipshewana, Ind.; junior Michael Deter, a missions major from Bluffton, Ohio; senior Maggie Gilliam, a social work major from Columbus, Ohio; junior Amy Hetrick, a marketing major from Fort Wayne, Ind.; junior Tyson Kalischuk, an accounting, economics and finance, and business management major from Alberta, Canada; junior Lucas Lengacher, a psychology major from Leo, Ind.; senior Becca Perhai, an elementary and special education major from Port Huron, Mich.; junior Justin White, a broadcast fusion media major from Clymer, N.Y., and senior Stephanie Yoder, a public relations and communication studies major from Goshen, Ind.
The students will serve by hosting HU Foundation breakfasts, participating in prayer ministry luncheons, hosting Homecoming & Family Weekend events, welcoming the Board of Trustees to meetings, and showing appreciation to donors with thank you calls and letters.
The goal is to have these Front Line Foresters grow in character through interactions with various professionals as they fulfill their duties as student ambassadors. They will develop leadership skills, gratitude and interpersonal skills as well as gain a basic knowledge of philanthropy and the workings of the Advancement Office at the university.
"These outstanding young men and women continue to inspire the advancement staff and are a significant part of our team," said Vince Haupert, vice president for advancement. "We are excited to have another strong group of students to represent our mission to our supporters."
