ADA, Mich. – The Forester women’s golf team took fifth at the Pure Michigan Lancer Invitational at Quail Ridge Golf Club Tuesday afternoon by shooting a 369.

“It was a tough day on a tough course,” said Coach Pete Schownir. “I am very impressed with Leah Thompson. She managed her game well.”

Thompson paced the HU crew by firing a 12-over-par 84 which landed her seventh out of 44 golfers. Betsy Schroeder carded a 91 to finish 16th. Two strokes back with a 93 to tie for 17th was Rachel Blauert. Abby Poole turned in a 101 to finish tied 26th.

Sophie Frazier posted a 103 to tie for 30th. Other scores included Sarah Scott with a 113 and Alayna Steely with a 131.   

Siena Heights took the team title by shooting a 331 followed by Grace (340), Cleary (344), Spring Arbor (364), HU (369) and Cornerstone.

Huntington is back at it Monday to play in Spring Arbor University Fall Classic.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
