Summer Theatre Camp to present ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

2012 Summer Theatre Camp HUNTINGTON, Ind.— The Huntington University Summer Theatre Youth Camp announces its 2012 production, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

This widely popular musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice follows the Biblical story of Joseph Egypt from his brother’s selling him into slavery to his rise as a powerful figure in Egypt. This musical has delighted audiences of all ages for decades.

Children and youth entering grades kindergarten through seniors in high school may register for the summer camp. The campers meet four hours a day, five days a week to stage the production, gain valuable theatrical instruction and participate in theater activities.

The camp begins June 25 and ends July 14 with two performances of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Performances will take place at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. July 14. Campers will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for rehearsals.

“Learning about acting, singing, and dancing is only a part of what children take away from the theatre camp experience,” said Jay Duffer, assistant professor of theater arts at Huntington University. “Theater instills confidence and teaches children how to collaborate with each other.”
