After taking four of six singles matches, the Foresters could only muster one doubles win, but it was enough for the Foresters to get by Grace College 5-4 for the win. Mitchell McDonald and Jason Stump were double winners for HU. McDonald downed Matt Blevins 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles and Stump sat down Marcus Moore 6-1, 6-3 at #5. The two then teamed to earn the deciding point in the match with their 8-1 win at #3 doubles. Other singles winners were Adam Widener (6-1, 6-0) at #6 and Daron Short (3-6, 6-0, 6-3) at #3. Short’s match proved to be significant as he came from behind to win it in three sets.
“As a team, we didn’t play as well as I would have liked, but we are making positive strides,” said Coach Turner. “We are still pretty young and our doubles teams aren’t clicking yet, but we will get there.”
The men even their record at 1-1 on the season and in conference play with the win.
