The Foresters used two big innings at the plate to knock off Grace College 8-4 in the opening game of the doubleheader, but then managed just three hits in the second game and fell 3-0 to the Lancers. HC exploded out of the box with five runs in their first at-bat. Levi Sell drove in two with a single and Austan Kas and Brian Porter each had RBI doubles in the inning. The Foresters added three more in the top of the third, but Grace answered with three in their half of the inning. The Lancers cut the lead to four with a run in the bottom of the six, but could get no closer. Tim Burris (1-3) went six innings to pick up his first win of the season. He gave up four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two.
Game two saw Grace grab the early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Lancers added an insurance run in their half of the sixth, although it wasn't needed as a struggling HC squad made no threat to deny the shutout. Ryan Roth (1-1) took the loss for the Foresters. He went four and a third innings and gave up two runs on five hits and a walk. Despite the split, HC had no miscues on the defensive end and moved its string of errorless games to five in a row.
The Foresters now stand at 9-15 on the season and have evened their conference record at 4-4.
