After a dismal shooting performance the night before, the Forester women's basketball
team (5-1) knocked down 42.6 percent of their shots to get back in the win column with a 77-46 decision over Trinity Christian College (1-6).
HU started off strong by scoring on their first three possessions to grab a quick 7-0 lead. The Trolls responded with six unanswered points to pull within one but it would be as close as Trinity Christian would get. The Foresters' solid defense limited the Trolls to 13 points the remainder of the half. They took advantage of 13 Troll turnovers to score 16 points and build a 21-point lead, 41-29, by intermission.
The Foresters continued to be the aggressors on both ends of the court. Behind Allison Greene's long trey and layup, HU extended the lead to 25 within the first five minutes of the second period. The Trolls struggled to find any sort of rhythm as Huntington cruised to the decisive 77-46 win.
Green led a balanced Forester attack with 15 points and eight boards. Lauren Meese and Greene each chipped in 13 while Amy Kramer was a rebound away from a double double with ten points and a game-high nine rebounds. The Trolls were led by Samantha Nekola's 15 points and six steals.
Green and Taylor Foley were named to the All-Classic team.
The Foresters begin MCC play on Tuesday when they travel to Marian for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
