The HU men's soccer team secured its first win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester College.

A composed Forester squad controlled the tempo of the game and finally got their break in the 63rd minute when Jake Essig warded off too defenders on a through ball from Nick Bunting to blast one past the Spartan goalie for the game-winner.

"I was pleased with the team's composure and strength on ball tonight," said Coach Lawson. "I felt like we controlled tempo the majority of the game."

Chris Fox and Drew Mattingly split goalie duties, each recording a save. The Foresters are 1-5 and travel to Holy Cross College on Thursday for a 6:00 kick-off.
