Huntington, Ind. - Huntington University assistant baseball coach Thad Frame is quickly making a name for himself in the Northwoods League for his role in taking the Battle Creek Bombers, a collegiate summer team, from “worst to first” in a matter of months.

Hired in January as the Bombers’ hitting coach, Frame played a key role in recruiting position players who have helped turn things around for a squad that went 20-50 in 2010.

Wednesday night the Bombers clinched their first playoff berth in franchise history with an 8-2 win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks. With the first half of the season under their belt, the team sits atop the Southern Division with a 20-13 record.

Among the list of Frame’s recruits include Huntington University Ace Mitch Bowers, hometown favorite Brett Wiley (University of Evansville), Norwell graduate Rhett Goodmiller (Taylor University) and MCC Player of the Year Ryne Otis (Taylor University).

The Northwoods League is a prestigious summer wooden bat league featuring some of the top college players in the country. The Bombers are in their fifth season playing at Battle Creek’s C.O. Brown Stadium.
