Gurwell to become a Forester

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University volleyball program has added its second recruit to its 2014-15 roster with the signing of Bryan High School standout Danielle Gurwell.

As a four-year letter winner for the Bears, Gurwell has established herself as one of the best middle blockers in program history. As a senior, the Bryan (Ohio) native helped guide her team to a 15-9 record and for her efforts received First Team All-District and First Team All-League accolades. She logged 309 kills this past fall to go along with 156 blocks, 55 of which were stuffs, and 188 digs.

Forester Head Coach Amy Settle is looking forward to getting Gurwell in green and white, “The HU women’s volleyball program is excited to welcome Danielle to oru team. Danielle will add to our strength at the net.

“She has the athleticism to be a strong blocking presence and the ability to attack from any position. Her competitive spirit will help propel our program forward.”
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
