HU finishes ninth at Battle at Blackthorn

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The HU golf team was a picture of consistency as they shot a 319 on both days at Bethel College’s Battle at Blackthorn this past weekend, finishing with a 638 to place ninth out of 13 teams.

Derek Zurcher shot an even par 72 on Saturday to finish in a tie for 18th with a 155. Devin Dale turned in a 156 (78, 78) good for a share of 21st place while Ryan Boester posted a 158 (78, 80) to claim 30th. Lance Hoch rounded out Huntington’s scoring with a 169 (80, 89) for 58th place.

The Pilots shot a 604 to successfully defend their home course with a one stroke win over Cardinal Stritch (605) followed by Holy Cross (612), Ashford (613), Marian (613), Madonna (636), St. Francis (Ill.) (637), Grace (637), HU (638), Saint Francis (640), Taylor (641), Roosevelt (656), Trinity Christian (672).

Huntington (5-16) hits the links again this weekend at the Bill Bockwitz Invitational hosted by Spring Arbor University.
