The Foresters got their season started on the right foot with a 1-0 win over Calumet College of St. Joseph.
HU got the only goal of the game in the 58th minute when Joel Sanders sent a powerful shot on goal that was too hot for the Crimson Wave keeper to handle. Marc William found the rebound and sent home the gamewinner.
Both teams came out strong early in the contest, but it was the Foresters that began to find openings in Calumet's flanks which led to multiple scoring opportunities. "I was pleased with our ability to find the mismatches and open spaces," said Coach Lawson. "We generated 17 shots in the match which is encouraging considering our mixture of youth in the lineup. Our defensive play was exceptional and we gained some valuable experience playing with the lead."
