The Forester men's golf
team turned in an impressive 286 as a team to not only win the 15th Annual Jon P. Spiess Memorial Invitational but set a new tournament record with its two under par performance.
Edged by Trine’s Matt Warrener for top medalist honors in a two-hole play-off, senior Cory Powell paced HU by shooting a 70. Josh Teulker was right behind him with a 71. Seth Robertson turned in a 72. Jordan Dawes shot a 73 and Matt Wilson finished with a 76.
"It was a great way to start off our fall season. Seth Robertson played a great round of golf today considering this was his first collegiate golf tournament. Josh Teulker had a great round as well, and Cory Powell displayed great leadership with his two under par round of 70," commented Coach Green. "I am excited to see what these guys can accomplish this year.
"We often talk about how important it is to 'finish the round'. Today we did an excellent job of that by shooting 7 under on the last three holes. That is how great golf teams play. Hopefully we can continue to build on what we started today and not let this be the highlight of our season."
