HU women win Hokum Karem

The Foresters competed in the Goshen College Hokum Karem with the women winning the event and the men finishing third.

HU won the women's race with a score of 12, followed by Goshen (13) and Trine (24). Running in two-person teams over a six-mile course, HU’s Lauren Johnson and Krystal McHenry won the event with a combined time of 37:24. They were followed by Foresters Bradie Vance and Abbey Wise with a fourth place finish in 40:13. Molly Shirey and Emilee Green finished seventh in 42:10.

On the men's side, Trine took top honors with a score of 13 followed by Goshen (15) and HU (17). Joseph Njeri and Alec Rosario paced the Foresters with a fourth place finish over the ten-mile course in 53:35. Ethan Medley and Nathan Rupp followed closely behind with a sixth place finish in 54:08. Isaiah Laatsch and Lance Wood finished seventh in 54:08 to round out the HU scoring. Other Forester runners included Matt Bittner and Nathan Barnett who ran the course in 58:05 and David Boyer and Daniel Becker who finished with a time of 60:20.

HU's first regular meet will take place next Saturday at Defiance College.
