Huntington University soccer coach Ryan Burgher has announced that Erin Hatfield of New Castle Chrysler High School has signed her national letter of intent to continue her education and playing career at HU this fall.
Hatfield, a four-year member of the varsity squad, was named captain her senior year. She also received the Academic Achievement Award and was placed on the Academic All-Conference Team. As a club player Erin had stints with Greenfield Strikers, Anderson Blitz, and the Muncie Stars. Off the field Erin has also been very active as a member of the National Honor Society, Art Club, Korean Club and her local youth group.
Hatfield, an art education major, chose Huntington because, "Huntington has my major and soccer. After visiting the campus I really liked the atmosphere and the small size. I'm excited to be able to play soccer and look forward meeting a lot of new people."
"Erin is a great girl and her passion for the sport was evident the first time we met. She is the type of girl that is going to give 100% every practice and really push the other girls to become better players." said Coach Burgher. "She is going to bring depth to multiple positions and hopefully challenge some of our returnees right away."
Erin is the daughter of Steve and Janet Hatfield.
