Richmond, Ind. - In an action-packed weekend of volleyball, the Foresters lost a closely contested match to the visiting Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio on Friday night before splitting a pair of matches at Indiana University East on Saturday.
As has been the case all season, HU has proven they can compete with just about anyone but their efforts didn’t land them in the win column as UNOH swept the three-set series, 25-19, 25-23, 25-17.
Finishing with six kills apiece was the freshman duo of Heather Medich and Brittany Rooze. Kaylee Searles and Rebekah Brown each tallied five kills. Brown also added a team-high six digs and three blocks. Jensen Carnahan dished out 20 assists.
Against Midway College on Saturday, the Foresters were able to outlast the Eagles for the 3-0 win, 29-27, 25-20, 25-18. Medich again fueled HU’s offense finishing with ten kills and only one error. She also tallied a team-high eight digs. Searles and Rooze also chipped in seven and six kills respectively while Brown came up big defensively to finish with four blocks and six digs. Carnahan also played a key role in the Foresters’ win with 23 assists, seven digs, three blocks and two aces.
In final match of the day, the Red Wolves, one of the top teams in the nation, proved to be too much to handle as they notched their 24th win of the season in straight sets over the Foresters, 25-12, 25-17, 25-12.
Brown took top honors at the net finishing with seven kills. Rooze and Medich recorded six and five kills respectively. Rooze also added eight digs. Carnahan handed out 19 assists.
The Foresters (5-16) are back in MCC action on Wednesday when they host the University of Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m.
