Lancers too much for Foresters

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Lancers of Grace College handed the visiting HU women’s soccer team its first conference loss, a 3-0 defeat, Saturday afternoon at Miller Field .

The Lancers, currently receiving votes in the NAIA national rankings, controlled tempo through much of the match, logging 27 shots to HU’s eight. Their constant pressure paid off in the 37th minute when Jalisa Thayer found back netting to give her team a 1-0 lead.

The second half was much like the first with Grace having the upper hand. Thirty minutes into the period, Meredith Hollar put the match firmly out of reach by adding two more goals within a five minute span to give her Lancers a 3-0 advantage that they rode out for the win.

Caitlin Adams took the loss in goal. She finished with ten saves.

The Foresters (3-8, 2-1) are back in action on Wednesday when they host Goshen College at 4:00 p.m.
